Lorem Ipsum, also known as random text or dummy text, is dummy text commonly used in printing and typesetting. Lorem Ipsum has been used as the standard text in the field since the 15th century AD, when an anonymous printer deliberately scrambled a box of type to make a type specimen book.
It has survived not only five centuries, and also the challenge of electronic typesetting, remaining in its rudiments today. Its use was popularized in the 1960s by the release of paper by the "Leatraset" company on which Lorem Ipsum passages were printed. Recently, the computer desktop publishing software "Aldus PageMaker" has also brought Lorem Ipsum into the public eye in the same way.
Contrary to popular belief, Lorem Ipsum is not simply random text. It dates back to a classic Latin work from 45 BC, making it over 2,000 years old. Richard McClintock, professor of Latin at Hampden-Sydney University in Virginia, once noticed a very obscure Latin word, "consectetur" in a Lorem Ipsum passage. Through this word, he searched in detail the original text of classic literary works related to it. Professor McClintock discovered this Undoubted provenance. Lorem Ipsum begins with chapters 1.10.32 and 1.10.33 of "de Finibus Bonorum et Malorum" (The End of Good and Evil), written by Cicero in 45 BC. This book is a treatise on moral theory that was very popular during the Renaissance. The first line of Lorem Ipsum "Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet.." is excerpted from chapter 1.10.32.
